Jefferson, is located in Marion County in northeastern Texas. Jefferson's population in the 2000 census was 2,024. Jefferson is the county seat of Marion County. Marion County is named for famed Revolutionary War hero, Francis Marion, known as the "Swamp Fox". Jefferson was named for America's 3rd president, Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson is a pedestrian friendly town. Visitors and townspeople can walk to restaurants, banks, coffee shops, antique stores, bars and the post office. |
